The sun was shining brightly today for Novice Cross Country Races which were held in picturesque JFK Park outside New Ross. Kennedy Park has been described as luxury cross country running with conditions underfoot near to perfect with mowed lawns and excellent facilities for runners.

For the first time, the kids races were first off at 12.00 followed at 2.00 by the Ladies Novice 3K race. Slaney Olympic had a strong turnout with 9 ladies making up the 2 teams.
Mary Gorham was first to score for Slaney finishing in a strong 4th position and led the way for the ladies to win Team Gold, she was closely followed home by Sabina Sweeney, Esther O Leary and Annemarie Nolan. Also, taking part today and running strong for Slaney was Sarah Byrne Walsh, Maura Neville, Ciara Kearney, Gosia Szymura and Kate Doyle. Well done ladies.

Next up was the Mens 6K Novice Race and once again Slaney Olympic had a strong turnout with 10 runners at the start line. First home for Slaney was Enda Cloake, followed by Bryan Crouch, David Kehoe and Billy Reck who all made up the Silver Team. Also running for Slaney today and putting in great racing was Will Doyle, Jessie O Connor, Ed Cahill, John O Connor, Tom Crofts & Declan O Brien. Well done lads.

Next race is the County Intermediate in Adamstown on the 16th October with the Ladies Race 4K and the Mens Race 8K, starting at 2.00.
