Middle Distance Female Athlete of the Year (European Masters Athletics)

The accolades keep coming in for Anne Gilshinan of Slaney Olympic. Last month she was named Female Athlete of the Year at the South East Radio Sports Awards, this month she was awarded the EMA Best Masters Award in the Middle Distance Category. The athletes were nominated by the EMA member federations with the final decision being made by the EMA selection committee.

This was a memorable year for Gilshinan who improved three-world records within a single month. Anne set a new world record (WR) at 1500 and lowered her own W55 WR once more, clocking 4:41.46. At IMC Meet in June she set a W55 800m world record, clocking 2:19.63, lowering the previous record by more than 2 seconds. In Dublin Anne also set a W55 1-mile WR (5:08.47). In addition to these accomplishments, at the WMACI 2019 in Toruń (Poland), one week before she turned 55, Gilshinan won the silver medal in 1500m (4:50.17).

I know I speak for every member of Slaney Olympic when I say we are very proud of your on-the-track accomplishments and we all look forward to seeing what new accomplishments you will achieve in 2020.
