The County Intermediate Cross Country was held today in Adamstown hosted by Adamstown AC. With the heavy rain that fell over the last couple of days, conditions underfoot were always going to be challenging for the runners.

First off at 2.00 was the Ladies 4K race and Slaney had 6 runners take to the start line. Mary Gorham ran a strong race and finished in 4th position overall and led the way for Kelly Long, Sabina Sweeney and Sarah Byrne Walsh to clinch Team Gold. Also running for Slaney and putting in a solid race performance was Maura Neville and Kate Doyle. Well done ladies another fantastic result for Slaney Olympic Athletic Club.

Next off after the ladies race was the Mens 8K race. Slaney had 5 members taking part who all ran strongly over a gruelling 8 lap course. Running from the club was Enda Cloake. Bobby Redmond, Billy Reck, Ed Cahill and Tom Crofts. Well done lads.

Thanks to Mag Dunphy for marshalling on behalf of the club and to Sabina for organising the much appreciated cuppa afterwards.

Next cross county is the Senior Cross Country on December 18th, hosted by St. Pauls Athletic Club.
