Ballytrent 2012

The County Wexford Intermediate Cross Country championships were held on Sunday 21st October in Ballytrent, Kilrane. Another medal haul for Slaney Olympic was topped by a superb performance from Jason O’Connor who won the 8k race in 29.10 winning the individual gold.  Team mate Brian Keane fresh from his individual bronze in the novice only 2 weeks ago, won his second individual bronze in a time of 30.44, showing great form and promise for higher accolades in the future. His brother, Eoin Keane was 11th in 32.00 and following in 18th was James Delaney in 33.38. The 4 of them came home to win team silver behind SBR who took the Gold. Other team performances were from Paul Murphy 21st, John O’Connor 22, and John O’Sullivan in 23rd.

Great success in the ladies 4k race, as Slaney took both team silver and team bronze behind SBR ladies who took the gold. Great performances from Emer Kehoe 6th; Shauna Deane 7th; Helena Brown 9th took silver and Kelly Long 10th; Trudy Crosbie 11th and Breda Cash 13th secured team bronze. A great array of refreshments followed in the team tent by the wonderful Slaney Catering as always finishing an end to the great afternoon.
