Last Saturday saw the inaugural Ballycarney 10K race take place along the banks of the River Slaney. There was a good representation of runners  from all around the county as well as a few from further afield. The course started in Ballycarney village and headed out towards the N11 along a minor road parallel to the N80.  After a brief sortie onto the main roads and a 100 metre run on grass at the Scarawalsh roundabout the runners recrossed the Slaney over the picturesque old bridge before returning to Ballycarney by the same route.

He finished in a time of 34. 09 over a minute ahead of second placed Ted Flannelly of Slaney Olympic AC. Myles Gibbons of SBR finished third. First lady home was Dawn Whelan of Slaney Olympic followed closely by clubmate Mary Doyle. Tracey Flanagan (unattached) finished third.
