The 5th race in the Summer League took place on the Old Dublin Road circuit on Friday evening 23rd July and it really was a night where there was a lot of county talent on show.  It was good to see Ann Sullivan from DMP fame taking part, also Jim Stafford who turned down another event to make up the field.  It was going to be a battle for 1st past the post as Kevin Murphy and Jim are old adversaries over this distance but on the night it was Kevin who came out on top in a time of 21.49 with Jim finishing strongly in 22.01 followed by Conail Cooper in 22.43.  Mick Jordan  had a great battle with Martin (Farmer) Monaghan finishing in 23.00 and 23.09 respectfully.  Brian Murphy was next in 24.13 and Ann Sullivan – first lady home in the excellent time of 25.00.  She held off a strong challenge from the fast improving Wayne Breen in 25.12. This was the finish of the night. 2nd lady home was Martina Conran who is improving with every race in a time of 29.18 followed by Joan Kennedy-Doyle in 31.33.  It was great to see Jane & Graham Porter put the runners (trainers) back on and take to the field.  This, they say is the start of their comeback into competition running also we had a surprise Blast from the Past when Andy Kehoe ran his first race in this series. Good to see you back Andy.

Welcome to Seamus Jordan, Garath Kavanagh and Owen Hayes.

The next race in the Summer Series, the last 5 miler will be held at the Still Pond on 6th August at 7.30 p.m. Stewards required please.
