The 3^rd leg in the summer handicap series was held on Friday evening June 11^th at 7.30 pm on the Old Dublin Road circuit.  This was a testing 4 mile event with the last mile mostly uphill but it did not deter 26 taking up the challenge.  This was a small field due to a good many of our regulars being absent due to other commitments but what we lacked in quantity we certainly made up in quality.

 Kevin Murphy had a clear run in 22mins.21secs but the placings for the minor positions was much closer.  Martin Monaghan and Padraig Morriarty had a close battle for second position with Martin proving the stronger on the hill finish in 23mins.04 secs and Padraig 23.19.  Edward White who is now getting back to his better form was 4^th in 25.10 followed by Fergus Murphy in 25.41, 6^th was Mick Nolan in 26.13,  7^th Stephen McGannon who is one of our new members and is beginning to show his true potential in a time of 26.23.  The fast improving Paul Murphy was next in 27 mins.

 In the ladies, Mag Dunphy was 1^st in a time of 32.15 with Marie Breen 33.05 fresh from her triathlon the previous week.  3^rd was Michelle Doyle who is improving with every race as is Annis Kehoe who was 4^th lady.  Their times were 33.17 and 33.52 respectively.  They were followed by Bernie Millar, Moira Roberts and Deirdre Kavanagh and young  family of  Seamus, Sean and Liam potential future athletes of Slaney Olympic.  Deirdre said that granny was out on the course too.

 Welcome to David O’Connor, Moira Roberts, Marie Breen as this was their first run in the Summer league this year hopefully we will see them all for the rest of the series. 

 Remember the position of finishing does not reflect the handicap positions.  These will be made available for the first 3 events within the next few weeks and will be available on the website also all of the results of this event will be on website too.

 Please note that the next race will be a 5 miler and will take place at the Still Pond on Friday 9^th July at 7.30 p.m.  Marshals urgently required for this leg of the series.
